Amazon's private label Elements expands for first time in years with invite-only vitamins and supplements
Amazon's Elements private label line is apparently moving beyond baby products with a handful of supplement products including Vitamin D2, Vitamin K2, Turmeric Root Extract and Calcium Complex, that are available to Amazon Prime members who have to "request an invitation" to buy them at this time. This little-known waste product could provide a chocolate replacement
Right now it's being used in the U.S. market primarily as a meat substitute, but jackfruit may have other uses, according to Brazilian researchers who just published a study in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry. The jackfruit's seed has some chemical similarities to cocoa, and in some countries they're thrown away. The researchers found that dried, roasted and fermented jackfruit seeds produced an aroma, luminosity, moisture and color that are similar to those of cocoa powder or cocoa substitutes.
