5) The Octopus That Squirms While You Eat It

Eating an Octopus is strange enough but this particular Octopus is far beyond weird.

This Japanese and Korean delicacy is known as odori don, and it consists of a live squid or octopus dumped on your plate and served to you.

Technically speaking the Octopus isn’t actually alive, they actually remove its brain before serving it but that doesn’t stop the Octopus from moving its tentacles about on your plate.

This is because the octopus’ nerves and muscles are still active and spring to life when they come into contact with salt, like the salt in soy sauce.

Essentially it gives the illusion that this Octopus is fighting for its life, when in fact its already dead.

4) The Severed Human Toe Cocktail

The sourtoe cocktail is a versatile drink, in that the liquid part can be whatever you like.

It consists of a severed pickled human toe in a drink.

It’s a bar in Canada that servers this nightmare drink and you’re probably wondering where did they get this ridiculous idea from?

Well, basically, in 1973, Captain Dick Stevenson found some guy’s frostbitten toe floating in a jar of moonshine in some cabin somewhere.

After concluding that it probably belonged to a Yukon moonshine runner and dated back to the 1920s, he said to himself, “That needs to be in a drink,” and the sourtoe cocktail was born.

3) Fruit Bat Soup

This marvelous dish is enjoyed in Guam and it consists of vegetable soup and a boiled Fruit Bat.

Whats crucial here is they don’t do any major preparations to the bat before hand, they literally kill it, rinse it off & boil it.

They don’t remove its fur, they don’t cut it open and use its flesh, it is just a boiled bat floating in your soup.

Whats concerning is these bats eat plants that are known to cause neurological diseases in humans, so when you take a bat with a belly full of poison seeds and toss it right into your stew, it doesn’t take a doctor to figure out what’s going to happen next.

Parkinsons & Alzheimer’s are just two disorders you can get if you eat this dish.

2) Blood Clams

Blood clams are clams that produce an excessive amount of hemoglobin (the stuff that helps make blood red), and there’s really no way to crack one of these things open without copious amounts of blood pouring on your plate.

The traditional preparation method of this Chinese delicacy is to boil them for a ridiculously short time (about 20 seconds) so all the blood is as just fresh as can be.

Consumers of this dish insist that “damn near raw” is the best way to eat them.

However anyone who eats these has a 14% to 16% chance of contracting all the hepatitis, because surprise surprise, barely boiling things barely kills any germs!

Blood clams are actually illegal in China because of it, so much so that anyone who gets caught selling them is fined 10 times what they make.

But people still insist on selling and eating them, because they’re apparently just that good despite the outbreak of 300,000 infections and 31 deaths.

1) Kiviaq

This weird dish from Greenland, just shouldn’t be labeled as food.

Its consists of dead birds that are left to rot for at least 18 months in a Seals carcass.

Apparently the rotting of the birds leaves the half liquified meat extremely tender along with the bones.

This means you don’t even cook the rotting birds and can eat the whole thing how it is.

The smell apparently is so bad yet for some reason people still eat insist on eating this.
